Arion a.k.a Abdelmajid Khedhiry
is a self-taught artist working in the Figurative and Realist traditions. He was born in 1984 in Tunisia. His experience with art has always been intimate and shaped by self-discovery. His artworks are private areas of meditation and existential inquiries. Arion’s art is a soliloquy that takes a universal voice asking questions and trying to trace stories of a life, or maybe Life.
His studies of the English language and literature and his academic career as an English teacher helped him refine his artistic inspiration. Poetry, mythology and symbolism in literature have enriched his life as an artist and person. His artworks are deeply studied and meticulously elaborated. Using the time-tested methods of the Old Masters are the key to my visual language as an artist. Although his style and technique are contemporary, he is very influenced by the 'Old School' and the Great realism Masters such as da Vinci, Bouguereau, Rembrandt, Raphael, Godward, and Waterhouse. Arion's paintings are mostly inspired by modern human condition and by literary works such Pynchon's, Joyce's, Beckett's, Hemingway's, Startre's, Dostoyevsky's, and many others.
